The shield is handmade from gold patent leather and proform, to create the look of a gold shield. I started my design with a simple pointed-toe court shoe, but wanted to add something that would give it the wow factor. This design process took a while! however I finally came up with one idea which I began to visualise through paper prototypes. I made about ten to fifteen different shield patterns until the measurements balanced perfectly on the shoe - wider around the outside of the shoe which then tapers in towards the inside of the shoe.
